Patent Grabber 6.0 is here with Mountain Lion compatibility!

Patent Grabber 6.0 for Mac OS X is now available for download from the Blazing Dawn Software "Patent Tools" page. This version is Mountain Lion compatible. It also adds two new download options: Claim Report and Abstract Report. Those reports were previously limited to use with search results. There are also lots of fixes (e.g., PCT searching works again; EP title searching works again).

I posted a beta of Patent Grabber 6.0 that will hopefully fix the problem Mac OSX Mountain Lion users are experiencing with U.S. patent and application downloading. Download it from:
http://www.blazingdawn.com/sw/Patent_Grabber_60-10_ML_beta.zip.

Mountain Lion users: please let me hear from you!

This version is also good for previous Mac OSX systems back to and including Tiger.

Mountain Lion: U.S. downloading problem in Patent Grabber

There is a problem when Patent Grabber tries to download U.S. patents and applications from the USPTO under OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion). Since the USPTO patent pages are in TIFF format, Patent Grabber must convert each page of a patent to PDF format before combining the pages into a single PDF file. Under Mountain Lion the TIFF-to-PDF conversion has stopped working.

The work-around until I find a fix is to download U.S. patents and applications using Patent Grabber's "International" function. However, remember to precede each number with "US".

PCT searching broken in Patent Grabber

The folks at WIPO made some changes to their searching system that broke Patent Grabber's PCT search function. I have identified a fix and will release a new version shortly. Many thanks to Patent Grabber user Ramiro for reporting the problem!

Patent Grabber 5.9.5 is now available

Patent Grabber 5.9.5 is now available for download from the Patent Tools page of the Blazing Dawn Software web site. All users must upgrade to this version.

Version 5.9.5 provides a more permanent fix for the changes made by the European Patent Office to its Open Patent Services servers. Patent Grabber uses Open Patent Services for a number of its functions.

Patent Grabber 5.9.4 is now available

The European Patent Office's recent changes to their "Open Patent Services" server system broke a number of Patent Grabber functions. Version 5.9.4 is a patch to hold users over until I complete all of the necessary modifications.

Family-izer(TM) both original and Solo are operating normally again

I have fixed the problems with Family-izer and Family-izer Solo so that they are both working again. The EPO systems upon which they are dependent were modified recently, so I had to make changes to compensate.

My work to get all of Patent Grabber's features functioning again is progressing.

EPO changes things again!

EPO changes have disabled Patent Grabbeer's INPADOC Legal Status feature on the downloading screen, as well as the Sortable List and Abstract Report on the search screen. The downloading of patent documents is not affected.

Also disabled are my two free online services: Family-izer and Family-izer Solo.

Fixes will be provided ASAP.
